At Atlas Medical Consultants, we believe exceptional care shouldn’t require a trip out of town. Founded in 2022 by Rajan Goyal MD, a board-certified Pulmonary and Critical Care Specialist and Kern County’s only interventional pulmonologist, our practice was created to bring advanced, hospital-level treatments to patients right here in Bakersfield. Dr. Goyal recognized a growing need for specialized pulmonary services in the community—and made it his mission to close that gap with a practice grounded in innovation, integrity, and personalized care.
From chronic lung conditions to complex diagnostic procedures, we focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care that’s both effective and accessible. Our team is highly trained in state-of-the-art techniques, including Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy, and other minimally invasive approaches that help avoid the need for more invasive surgeries. At Atlas, we understand that medicine is more than just procedures—it’s about building trust, listening to our patients, and supporting them at every stage of their health journey.

Dr. Goyal, Kern County’s sole interventional pulmonologist, pioneers cutting-edge medical advancements, including Endobronchial Ultrasound-guided lymph node biopsies, sparing patients from invasive procedures like mediastinoscopy. His expertise extends to Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy for lung nodule biopsies, a safer alternative to CT-guided biopsies, and fiducial markers for precise lung cancer radiation therapy.
Beyond these, Dr. Goyal excels in various interventional pulmonary procedures, such as pleurx catheters for managing pleural effusions at home and intrabronchial valves for extended air leak relief. He’s a trailblazer in lung cancer diagnostics, pleural effusions, pulmonary emboli, and more, bringing advanced care typically found at larger institutions to our small-town Bakersfield.
Dr. Goyal earned his medical degree from Government Medical College, Amritsar, India, completed residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center, and pursued fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine at the same institution.
His journey includes roles at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, and eventually, he partnered with Dr. Syed Alam in Bakersfield before founding Atlas Medical Consultants in October 2022.
Amarpal Gill, NP
Nurse Practioner
Amarpal Gill was born in Santa Clara, CA, and then, at the age of 4, she moved to Bakersfield, CA. Her lifelong passion for healthcare led her from a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), driven by a desire to bridge healthcare gaps.
Amarpa graduated from Golden Valley High School in 2007; she then pursued nursing education at Bakersfield College and SBBC, later obtaining her LVN certification from Santa Barbara Business College. After earning her Associates Degree in Nursing from Carrington College in 2016, she worked in the ICU at Mercy Hospitals Bakersfield, eventually achieving her BSN from Chamberlain University College of Nursing in 2019.
Following her graduation from CSUB’s MSN-FNP program in 2022, Amarpal served as a clinical instructor at Unitek College Bakersfield before joining Atlas Medical Consultants as a pulmonology FNP in March 2024.
Beyond her professional life, Amarpal finds joy in family moments with her husband, twin children, and two dogs, along with a love for beach outings and sunsets.
